Four Reasons to Join the ELMS Toplist

1: Google... The biggest and arguably best search engine in the world doesn't rank sites by keyword density or page content. It ranks sites by (what it calls) importance. For instance if you had lots of meta tag keywords containing the term 'scooter' and the content of your web page had the word 'scooter' littered about the page, some search engines would place your rank quite high if someone searched for the term 'scooter' i.e. you'd be placed on or near the 1st page that comes up. Google uses a combination of site url name, meta tag desciption and page content to relate your site to the word 'scooter' but where you come up in the rankings is a different matter. It's all about how many other websites link to your site. If you had 5000 other websites that have a link to yours then no doubt your site would be 1st in googles rankings for the word 'scooter'.

Our topsite list effectively interlinks all the sites that are joined to it, making them all more important to the Google search engine and therefore placing those sites higher in it's rankings.

It's not just the word 'scooter' either, it's 'vespa', 'lambretta' or any keywords that some or all of toplist websites have in common.

2: Adding your site to the toplist will bring more visitors to your site, guaranteed! On the toplist look at the far right column where it says 'Stats' and click on the 5 bar graphic for the site you want to look at. Here you will see 'Unique Hits Out'. This is the amount of people who've visited that site from the toplist.

3: Another benefit is if you put the toplist code on your home page, the 'Unique Pageviews' part of the stats will tell you how many people have visited your site so far that week. This is because the code you place on your page will load the topsite logo from our site. You don't store the logo on your own site, therefore everytime the logo is loaded onto your web page, it is counted and you can check how many visitors you are getting each week. Obviously if you decide to place the code on your links page, then 'Unique Pageviews' will only reflect the amount of visitors who looked at your links page.

4: As long as you put the voting code on your site, joining up means having a free link on our site. There's no point having a site if people don't know it's there. So, it's a case of the more links you have on others sites, the better!

We used to have an online form for joining but because of some sad person from Turkey that kept joining loads of times, we've had to disable it.
Now to join, you have to use our email form to supply us with your details. Once we have your details, we'll join your site to the toplist for you and send you an email with the html vote code that you have to place in one of your web pages, your sites ID number and a password. You can use the ID number and password to login to your account after you're listed to change any of your details including the password.

The details we need you to send us are:
Your website name.
Your website address.
Your email address.
A description of your site or tell us what it offers. This description will show up on the toplist.
A website address of your site banner to show on the toplist (max size 500*150 pixels).

About The Toplist

The toplist resets all hits to zero every Monday. This will give everyone a chance to make it to the top of the list.

Any non-scootering related sites that apply to join will not be accepted. By Scootering Related, we mean Scooter Club, Scooter Shop, Scooter Scene Band (Mod, Ska, Northern), Or just a site about Scooters etc.
