Worz, as i said at camber, i am considering putting the 175 kit plus 22mm carb on the scoot. Spoke to the bloke today and he said i would need to uprate the crank also and that there are different cylinder kit sizes depending on the number of fins between the exhaust manifold and top of the head on the existing lump?

Would the crank job be a nightmare? I would be able to do a strip job of bodywork before you fitted it...

What do you reckon, what would be the parts i'd need to order?

Cheers...

Bloody hell.... I reckon the guy's trying to pull a fast one. The only crank worth upgrading to would be a GP crank. Problem is that the GP crank has a thicker taper and therefore would need a new flywheel, mag housing, bearing and oilseal which would cost a fortune. The crank you have is the same as fitted to a TV175. Only difference is the size of the cylinder bore, piston and ring size.

If I were you mate I'd just buy a 175cc piston, piston rings and gudgeon pin. Then take your old 150cc barrel & new piston to that MZ motorcycle shop in Essex road and ask them to rebore the barrel for you. The total cost will be a hell of a lot cheaper than messing about with cranks and trying to convert an LI engine into a GP.

Thanks Worz. I'm gonna see what deal i can get for the bits...i may have another option...a bloke at work is selling a T5 that i've already seen and is alright. Its MOT has just run out so i might get it for a good deal and spend more time on the lammy upgrades. Bloody hell i've just realised i've actually listened to some advice! As Titch said "just get a bloody vespa!"  biggrins
