Hello all,

PK80s owner from N London here. Have had quite a bit of help from Worzel in the last few months and just seeing if anyone's got any advice on the latest problem.
Worzel, it's the red PK80s near Archway if you remember. Gave me a hand with the exhaust about 6 weeks ago and my clutch cable about two weeks ago.
Anyway, going to work this morning it was sounding a little strange. Really hard to describe the noise but possibly mechanical and only when at high revs.
Coming home from work it was stalling in neutral unless I kept a little bit of throttle open. Got the next couple of miles ok but needing to not let the revs get too low. Then about 3/4 mile from home it starting losing power. Felt like the brake was on was the best way I can describe it. Then died completely. Tried to restart but no compression. Turned fuel off, opened throttle and gace it a good kicking. Kicking over that is! Still nothing but had compression and was firing. Put the tap back on, gave a couple more kicks without starting then the kickstart went solid. Now I can't kick it at all, the kickstart won't budge. A nice push up Holloway Rd followed.

If this sounds like typical symptoms of anything or anyone's got any advice it's all welcome.

Thanks.

your iol seal may have gone and some of it may be stuck in the crank. empty out the old engin oil and see if you have fuel in the oil if you do i would 90%  that is the problem

Hello Matt.

Could be what Col said or possibly a broken piston ring or holed piston and what ever has broken off is stopping the crank from turning. Put the scoot in 2nd gear with the clutch lever out and try to move the scooter backwards. If it frees up you know somethings in the crankcase. If there is the engine will have to come apart to get it out.

Hello again.
First off thanks for all the replies. Yes, even you were spot on Titch!!
Worzel, thanks for the advice - put it in second like you said and the back wheel was stuck solid, wouldn't budge. Tried the kickstart in gear and it pushed the scoot forward as expected. Doing that a few times freed the back wheel up a bit and once back in neutral it the kickstart was working again. Engine turning but feels like there's something there. So, looks like it'll have to be split :(
Worzel, you do loyalty cards?!?!?! Seriously though, think will have to wait until I get paid but any chance you could pm a rough guess of how long it would take you to change the oil seals if it was this?
STarting to think I should get rid of it now and get another Vespa. When there's no problems it runs great but had too many problems with it. Trouble is, the more work that gets done to it the more I think at least I know what bits are in a decent condition and less things to go wrong. I know then at least half of it's ok and could buy another scooter and end up with even more problems :(

Thanks again for the help all of you.
