The server is working like sh*t lately. I did try to upgrade to the latest versions of the server and the script programs that run on it but when I did no pictures were showing up in the forum and there were other random errors. I'm going to have to do something about it soon as it's pissing me off being sooo slow and unreliable.

In the meantime you could try resizing your pictures before you try and upload them. Digital camera pictures nowadays take huge pictures over 1mb in size so if you resize them with a max height or width of 600 pixels they should upload quite quickly.

If you haven't got a program to resize them with you can either email them to me and I'll put them on or you can download You are not allowed to view links.
Register or Login
IrfanView
which is what me and Titch use.

P.S. Don't try to upload anything between 10.30am and 11.30am as that's when I've set the server backup to happen. So between those times the server will be at a crawl.

If you decide on downloading IrfanView here's how to do it:
Make a folder with the event name inside the My Documents/My Pictures folder.
Transfer the pics from your camera into that folder.
Once done come out of that folder and into 'My Pictures'.
Right click on the folder you just created and choose 'Copy'.
Right click on your desktop and choose 'Paste'
Start IrfanView and click on the 'File' menu at the top.
Choose 'Batch Conversion/Rename'.
A filebox will pop up. Navigate to your desktop and into the folder you pasted.
Select all the pictures and click on the 'Add' button.
Click on the button 'Use This Directory As Output'
'Batch Conversion' should already be selected as should JPG for the output format.
Put a tick in 'Use Advanced Options' Then click the button 'Set Advanced Options'
A new box will pop up.
Tick the 'Resize' box.
In the 'Set both Sides to' Boxes set width to 600 and height to 600.
Tick 'Preserve Aspect Ratio'
In the Miscellaneous section tick 'Overwrite Existing Files'
Click 'OK'
Click on the 'Start' button which will convert your pics to have a max width or height of 600.

A bit long winded but it's easy and once you've done it the first time is a breeze the 2nd time.

Hope ya found this helpful Gupta Sing lol  armythumbsup2

The backup goes across my Local Area Network onto my other pc that I use for day to day stuff. If I had the backup set to go at the early hours I'd have to get up and switch on the other pc or leave it on overnight. Sod that! lol

I set it for 10.30 as it was the time of day I'd most likely be at home on the internet or whatever.

The webserver only has one hard drive in it so backing up the website onto the same hard drive is out of the question. If it died the website would be lost. I'll probably get a 2nd hard drive for the server one of these days then backing up at 4am won't be a problem and I won't have to be there.

I've fitted another hard drive to the server now so the site backup will happen at 4am.

Ohh I didn't even notice the site was down and I go to it quite a lot.

Well looking at Nominet's Whois records the domain name is paid up to the 18th of July this year so I'd say it's either been hacked or Rob's having a site revamp or something's gone wrong and he don't know about it yet. Or something else lol!
