There is a scrape on one of the side panels of my scooter, it's gone quite deep into the paint and is quite visible even though i've tried touching it up.

Looks like i need to get the gouge filled and resprayed to match the body colour.

And ideas how i should get this sorted eg take it to a local body repair place or use one of those mobile bodywork repairers etc etc ?

Any bodywork / repairer recommendations for East London (Roman Road area) or Central London appreciated.

i would try one taxi garages that have spray facilaties dunbridge st bethnal  green a side panel could be left  with them but i would get your own paint from the colour codes on your scoot

Cheers for that, the scoot was resprayed a few years ago.....any idea where the owner might have written the paint code on the scoot ? It's a 1961 vbb

If i don't know the exact colour do you reckon they can mix paint to match the panel ?

doubt it if you find a paint code thought it was a px you could get a garage to match it i would personally buy a small tin of filler you can get a fine one for easy sanding £10 a couple of sheets of fine wet and dry £5 tin of red oxide or grey primer £10 and then get paint made up in a shop and put into an aerosol can £15 also a can of laquer for the final coat £10 spray on a warm day with little wind outside or find some where inside and warm but will make a dust mess inside there was a paint shop called morrellis in mare st /cambridge heath rd take your scoot and see if they can match your colour good luck

Ha ha, Cheers, i took it up to dave in islington today, highly recommended by a few scooterists for bodywork - he's gonna sort it out for me this week.

At some point i'll get a pair of second hand panels and give your diy repair a try as it will save a few shillings the next time it happens...

Thanks for the advice.   scoot

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations re Dave Maher at the London Scooter Bodyshop in Islington, i collected my '61 VBB today and he has done an amazing repair and respray on the side panel......absolutely perfect.

He also does servicing, tyres etc etc

Check out his new website as below, highly recommended :
